GPS IIR-21 (M) is the eighth of the modernized GPS satellites, incorporating various improvements to provide greater accuracy, increased resistance to interference, and enhanced performance for users. The satellite was successfully launched aboard a Delta II 7925-9.5 vehicle at 6:35 am EDT on August 17, 2009 from Space Launch Complex 17A at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL.
